Terms of Service
Last updated [EFFECTIVE DATE — fill in before publishing]
These Terms govern your use of WebDiff. They're meant to be readable — the plain-language summary in each heading tells you the gist before you read the detail.
01Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of WebDiff, operated by [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] ("WebDiff", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you're using WebDiff on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have authority to bind it.
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. [LEGAL REVIEW REQUIRED — confirm minimum age and entity name before publishing.]
02What WebDiff does
WebDiff compares two versions of a webpage and reports content, visual, structural and metadata changes. It can also run scheduled monitors that periodically re-check a URL and alert you when it changes. Page captures are performed by a headless-browser service on our behalf.
We aim for accurate, useful comparisons, but automated page capture and diffing has limits — the Service is provided "as is" and we don't guarantee that every change will be detected or that captures will always succeed (some pages block automated browsers, for example).
03Your account
You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your login credentials confidential. You're responsible for all activity under your account. Tell us immediately at [CONTACT EMAIL] if you suspect unauthorized access.
04Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use WebDiff to scrape, monitor, or capture pages you don't have the right to access — you're responsible for having a lawful basis to compare or monitor any URL you submit, including third-party sites.
- Use the Service to violate another site's terms of service, robots.txt, or applicable law.
- Attempt to bypass rate limits, plan limits, or authentication.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service.
- Use the Service to build a competing product by systematically extracting our comparison or diffing logic.
- Submit URLs that serve malware, illegal content, or content intended to harass or harm others.
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service, including its underlying infrastructure.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section.
05Your data
Your comparison results, snapshots, and monitor configurations ("Your Data") belong to you. We claim no ownership over Your Data. You grant us a limited license to store, process, and display Your Data solely to provide and improve the Service.
You may export Your Data (history entries and reports) from within the app at any time, subject to your plan's export features. On account deletion, Your Data is deleted per the retention periods in our Privacy Policy.
You're solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to submit any URL, and for how you use the results (e.g., decisions made based on a detected pricing or content change).
06Our intellectual property
WebDiff, its logo, and the underlying software, design, and diffing methodology are owned by [COMPANY LEGAL NAME]. These Terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for its intended purpose — nothing here transfers any of our intellectual property to you.
07Plans, billing & cancellation
Free plan. Includes up to 3 monitors, 6-hour minimum check intervals, and monthly caps on snapshots and comparisons, as shown in-app and subject to change with notice.
Premium plan. $10/month (or the price shown at checkout), billed on a recurring basis through Dodo Payments, and includes unlimited monitors, hourly check intervals, AI editorial change summaries, email alerts, and exportable reports.
Billing is handled entirely by Dodo Payments; we never store your card details. Subscriptions renew automatically each billing period until cancelled. You can cancel anytime from your account's billing portal — you'll keep Premium access through the end of the paid period, with no partial refund for unused time unless required by law.
We'll give at least 30 days' notice before any price increase takes effect for existing subscribers.
08Service availability
We work to keep WebDiff available and reliable, but we don't offer a guaranteed uptime SLA at this time. We may perform maintenance, and the Service (including third-party capture infrastructure) may occasionally be unavailable. We're not liable for outages caused by factors outside our reasonable control (force majeure), including outages of our own upstream providers.
09Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DON'T WARRANT THAT COMPARISONS WILL BE ERROR-FREE OR THAT EVERY CHANGE ON A MONITORED PAGE WILL BE DETECTED.
10Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, WebDiff's total liability arising from these Terms or your use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. We're not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits or business decisions made based on WebDiff's output.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can't be limited under applicable law. [LEGAL REVIEW REQUIRED — consumer-protection carve-outs vary by jurisdiction.]
11Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold WebDiff harmless from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third party's rights (including by submitting URLs you weren't authorized to access).
12Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, with notice where practicable. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification) will survive.
13Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of [GOVERNING LAW / JURISDICTION], without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts located in [JURISDICTION]. [LEGAL REVIEW REQUIRED — confirm governing law, and whether an arbitration clause is wanted.]
14Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. We'll give at least 30 days' notice of material changes by email or in-app notice. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
15Miscellaneous
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and WebDiff regarding the Service. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. Our failure to enforce a right isn't a waiver of it.
